Tale of Two Houses

I get a pretty steady stream of
e-mail from this web site. (which I heartily enjoy) But, this
one just blew me away more than any other. I was looking at
one of my e-mails (from Tina and Scott Humphreys) that had a photo
included. The picture was rather large. and so just the porch
was on my screen when I opened it. Keep in mind that this is
when I had my porch on the front page of my website, so I was
getting a lot of porch-related e-mails. So, I am looking at
the baluster details and thinking "this looks really
nice". So I scroll over to the right a bit and see the
bay window, and now I'm thinking "wow, that is really similar
to my bay window" Then, the side door...then I just
detach the picture so I could look at it full screen
and..."THAT'S MY HOUSE!!!" I was truly stunned!

Needless to say, I immediately wrote back, wanting to
know more. I showed my wife and she couldn't believe it
either! I printed the picture of the front of the house and
framed it to show people who came over my house. This was so
cool!!!

It turns out that Tina and Scott
were looking through hundreds of house plans after purchasing some
land. They were looking for something different, when Scott
came across this web site. They liked the house so much that
they decided to hire an architect and builder to copy and build
it.

The first floor is very similar, but with only one
fireplace. They omitted the Vestibule doors, and lowered the
side entrance by two steps. In the Reception Hall, they used a
similar walnut trim pattern on the flooring and copied the crown
moldings.

The Main Staircase design was also used. This
allows a person standing on the first floor to look straight up and
see clear up to the third floor ceiling - one of my favorite
elements of this house. The floor plan on the second floor is
significantly different with three bedrooms, a bath, and laundry
room. We have five bedrooms, a nursery, bath and laundry
room.

The side door was lowered by a few steps. The
basement entrance is in the same place on the left.

My wife and I want to thank Tina and Scott for
sharing the pictures of their new house with us. We hope to
see more photos when the house is completed.
